'Science India' is a National science magazine published by Swadeshi Science Movement. This is a monthly publication in English which covers a wide range of science topics from ancient indian science to latest scientific and technological innovations. the magazine has an advisory board represented by eminent scientists and policy makers of India such as Prof. M.G.K. Menon, New Delhi; Prof. V.N.R. Rajasekharan pillai, Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU, Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, Pune. Over the last ten years, the magazine has gained wider acceptance at the national level, particularly among the general public, students, professionals, scientists and technocrats. Science India has thus clearly emerged as the single most magazine with articles covering diverse areas of science, technology and engineering so as to motivate and generate an interest in science education. Hindi edition is being published from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, since November 2007. Publishers Science India, the national science magazine, is published by Swadeshi Science Movement, Kochi, and Kerala Chapter of Vijnana Bharati. Thousands of eminent scientists, academicians, professional and social workers across the country are striving continuously on the platform of Vijnana Bharati. Swadeshi Science Movement is a popular science movement working for the integrated development of India through science, engineering and technology. Motivating the students to participate in science related activities and nurturing them as science talents is one of the main objectives of Swadeshi Science Movement. Besides, the movement also give thrust to three areas – 1. Science Popularization & Science and Technology Communication. 2. Environmental Protection and Nature Activity Programs. 3. Promotion and Popularization of Rural Technologies. The various efforts are co-ordinated for the integrated development of various sectors like rural development and agriculture, science, technology, engineering and industry, and through this aims social empowerment. The Movement has been honored twice at the National Level, bestowed first with the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Prize for the year 2005-'06 by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at 93rd Indian Science Congress held at Hyderabad, and later by DST-NCSTC National award for Outstanding Efforts in Science & Technology Communication for the year 2006-'07 at New Delhi. |
